  Steve is a U.S. Air Force Vietnam-era veteran who served in the Office of Special Investigations (OSI) in Washington, D.C.  Steve spent his entire professional career in corporate security, retiring in Jan 2019. For eight years he lead HOAPF to where we are today. Steve retired as Executive Director Dec 31, 2019 and thankfully still helps us today.

Brandon spent much of his adult live in law enforcement and corporate security, retiring   as Braymer, MO's Chief of Police Apr 2019.  He spent the last decade leading a team of security consultants and serving as a leader in local and international security industry associations. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Essential to HOAPF success from Day 1, Brandon retired from our Board Dec 31, 2019 after moving to Texas.

Captain Gorthy is a Vietnam veteran who served 26 years on active duty in the U.S. Navy where he flew numerous single seat attack (including the A-7) and fighter jet (including the F/A-18) aircraft.  Following his retirement from active military service he served in the Federal Aviation Administration in the Office of Safety.  Al holds a MS in Human Resources and a BS in Biology.

General Gardner, a fighter pilot (F-4s & F-16s) most of his 27-year military career, commanded a B-1 wing, and served as Adjutant General & Director Emergency Management & Homeland Security for Kansas - leading the Kansas response to 9-11 and multiple major disasters. For 13 years after that, Greg served in Infrastructure Protection regional leadership positions in the U.S. Dept of Homeland Security.  Greg holds a MS in Human Resources and a BA in Business.

Ken enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1966 at the age of 17. He spent the next 26 months on multiple tours in Vietnam.   Following his return home, he obtained his college degree and spent the next 47 years in the commercial and industrial HVAC field. Ken has been on the HOAPF Board of Directors since its inception in 2012.

Dave was the Senior Associate Dean and Chair of the Department of Accountancy at the Bloch School of Management, UMKC, until his retirement in September, 2019. Dave holds a BSA, MBA, and a PhD, and is a CPA (inactive).
