The scholarship will help me not only with the finances of my final undergraduate year at ISU, but will help give me more room to pursue my academic interests during my final year.
We maintain a low expense ratio to ensure that your donation is efficiently used to support dependents of deceased or 100% disabled veterans. Our expense ratio for both 2021 and 2022 was 1.3% of revenues.
We hired Kelli Campbell-Goodnow as our inaugural Executive Director effective March 1, 2023. We anticipate that our expense ratio will be approximately 10% going forward, which is comparable with the most efficient non-profits operating in the United States.
All of our partner institutions agree to match our funds, and to not charge us an administrative fee. Therefore, all donations to the HOAPF are matched 100%, which means we use your donation effectively.
Our partner institutions recruit applicants for our DEA scholarships, determine the recipients, and report their results back to the HOAPF.
We started our DEA Scholarship program in 2021 with 12 partner institutions, to whom we distributed $277,500. We added 11 partners in 2022 and distributed $500,000.
Our 2023 budget calls for signing Memorandums of Understanding with an additional 17 institutions and distributing $1,000,000.
The chart below indicates our impact on veterans and their families since we started operating in 2012.
